Buffalo Valley has been providing affordable alcohol/substance abuse treatment to patients in need for more about 30 years now. Of those 30 years, I have had the privilege of directing that treatment for over 18 years. I am happy to say, more than 1200 patients a year find their way to our doors. I am even happier to report that half of those are still sober a year later.

In the last 10 years our treatment modality has included job training, job placement assistance, GED training, life skills training, case management, housing and, of course, state of the art counseling to those most in need.

14 years ago, recognizing the great need for housing, we started another division in BVI called Valley Housing. Valley Housing has been very successful in offering affordable housing across middle Tennessee.

We currently have 20 housing programs and 650 units, with another 20 coming on line in the next couple of years. Our programs include units for anyone seeking affordable housing, one program serves only those 62 years and older, another for those individuals with disabilities and another for those whose income is below a certain limit. We have selfhelp programs to assist families build their own home. We have another program that grants home builders with down payment assistance up to $15000.00. We have another very large program for those who are homeless (HUD Definition). Valley Housing, our housing division, is growing every year and will probably continue to see growth every year. There is a tremendous need for affordable housing in middle Tennessee and as long as federal and state grants are available we will continue to buy and meet that need.

BVI has been a highly respected A/D treatment provider for many years. Valley Housing, our housing division, is becoming one of the most highly regarded housing providers and I am proud to be associated with both.
